Metaxa Cunningham is a writer and educator interested in promoting creativity and self-expression. Her mission is to inspire others to tell their stories in order to heal from tragedy, to gain confidence and to become empowered.

The purpose of Metaxa’s blog, Waking Up A Writer is to provide would be writers with tips and tools for journaling, crafting personal essays, writing creative non-fiction and memoirs. You will also find featured reviews of  blogs, websites and books of interest.

Biographical Information

 Metaxa Cunningham has a Bachelor of Education (BEd.) degree with an English major from the University of Alberta. She has taught adult education as well a high school level courses. She has over 10 years of experience in the education field. Her background includes working with students with special needs. Metaxa is a freelance writer and blogger.

Metaxa currently lives in central Alberta. She enjoys a balanced lifestyle with her husband, Bob and their French bulldog. Both of her stepchildren are now grown.
